Sunday {Soul Compass} – Opening to the Flow – Melissa Teel-Hartman

Before we dive headlong into this morning’s reading, I want you to take a deep, cleansing breath. Close your eyes. Relax – from the tips of your toes to the top of your head, releasing tension in each muscle as best you can. Breath in – deep, slow, and rejuvenating. Now, with the exhale – I want you to expel every ounce of grey and yucky feeling ick from your body. In your minds eye, literally breath that grey fog out of your body. Another deep, cleansing breath in – fill your body with clean, clear, bright-feeling, refreshing energy, revel in it for just a bit (repeat as many times as necessary to feel clear and connected – I usually need at two or three times through to get comfortable) – and off we go! ❤

So let’s begin…

It’s been a beautiful day in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Finally getting an opportunity to sit down for the first time in a couple of weeks and do some writing to connect with all of you gorgeous souls! Life sure gets busy with kiddos…but I wouldn’t have it any other way, and I know many of you would agree. It’s important to soak up that precious time with those babies! That being said, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve sat down and written out a reading. It’s always so interesting and funny to me that no matter how long I’m out the routine of writing and doing readings, it all comes back, like riding a bicycle almost.

Today, the cards that were drawn for the week just make me smile. Given that we’ve just come out of a pretty hefty and chaotic Mercury Retrograde, it makes sense that the cards of Flow, Gratitude, and Opening would surface. In the wake of retrograde, it seems that lots of forward movement on already in-motion projects has taken place for many of us. What we tend to forget at times, when we get so worked up in and involved in the changes, is to keep ourselves open to exactly HOW the changes are continually coming, keeping in alignment with the FLOW of it all, and expressing GRATITUDE for all of the events and moments that we are experiencing, knowing that regardless of how we define them in our human minds, that it’s all for our higher good. These cards are simply reminders of that for the week.

The thing of it is, in life there are always periods of expansion and contraction. Learning to tune into ourselves and the energies around us, more often that not, we can identify those occasions when it’s absolutely essential to be fearless in our openness and vulnerability – like now. Fear has no place in your current projects. To allow fear to take over will only inhibit further action and keep you from experiencing new people, places, and things that will only benefit your expansion. Tell fear to simply take a hike. It has no place here.

That being said, it’s easiest to avoid be fearful when we recognize that it has come up in our experience and take it in flow without placing judgments on it. It’s not good or bad. It just is. And the fact that it’s coming up also can be a significant indicator pointing to something or someone that needs your attention in some way, shape, or form. By being able to be in the flow with what we are feeling and not placing judgment on those feelings, we are creating a sense of freedom to feel what we as humans feel as we are experiencing in life and let if move through us and out of us, thus simply creating a habit of constant and liberating releasing.

All in all, each experience, regardless of what we label it or judge it as, provides us with priceless insights if we are willing to grow and expand along with the energy that coincides with it. Practicing a daily habit of expressing gratitude is one for the most powerful life changing practices that I’ve personally experienced. However that looks to you – whether it be mentally recalling moments you are grateful for at the end of the day, writing in a journal, or (my personal favorite) keep a digital app, such as the “Gratitude Journal” notepad of all the things you are grateful for – provides powerful steam for positive action in our lives. So if you’re wanting to tell fear to take a hike and get more into the flow of the energy surrounding the fabulous things that are taking place in present moment, try starting a daily practice of gratitude.
